SCd Architects were appointed to assist in the design and planning approval for this replacement dwelling in the Surrey Hills. The design has been developed to create a traditional rural aesthetic with a blend contemporary detailing which results in a home that is both classic and modern. The aim has been to use a clean and simple palette, avoiding the need for over elaborate and superfluous design detailing.
The main facing material is stock brickwork, blended to create a range of tones which adds warmth and texture to the facades. The window heads are finished with stone lintels designed without ornamentation which adds to the contemporary language
The layout of the house has been designed around the central circulation the runs east/west through the plan. All the rooms either connect directly off this space, or merge into a larger open plan living area.
