Following the successful detailed planning consent granted in February 2008, SCd Architects were appointed by Hutley Investments to re-evaluate the scheme with the brief of maximising the building’s efficiency through reappraisal of the vertical core strategy and plant distribution. Working closely with the design team and the local authority SCD have been able to increase the net lettable floor area by 15% whilst working within the restrictions established in the planning consent.
The building contains 165,000ft² of lettable floor area distributed over 18 storeys. This makes Altura the tallest building in Woking. The top floor incorporates public realm providing stunning views across the town and towards Guildford and the North Downs.
